Founded in 1797, this British "first capital of Upper Canada" saw the rival American forces capture and burn the town in 1813 in retaliation for the British armies' attack on neighboring Lewiston, New York, just across the Niagara River. |

One of the first homes to be re-built after the war, the Wilson House was completed circa 1816 by John Wilson, a merchant and son of “Irish John”, the keeper of a local hotel where the newly formed Law Society of Upper Canada first met. |

Today, nearly 200 years later, as the restored Wilson-Guy House, this Georgian home is considered to be one of Niagara’s special treasures! |
